FOREVER FEELING
THE ART OF JESSE CALIFORNIA
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17th
BEGINNING AT 7pm
Please join us for the opening of our latest art show!
“My art is about good times and the people, places and experiences I’ve encountered growing up in California. I feel a special connection to the esthetic and freedom of the 60’s and 70’s, which has led my art to pass through a psychedelic filter. When I’m not drawing on paper, I’m drawing inspiration and endless ideas from surfing, skating, camping and exploring rivers and beaches. I want the viewer to feel the sun, feel the water, stick out their tongue and rip off their clothes. Get free. Get weird. Get happy. Get on the bus.” - Jesse California
Jesse California is a Bay Area artist and musician currently living in Oakland, CA. “Forever Feeling” is a collection of dreamy and surreal watercolor and ink illustrations.
Jesse’s work can be found in Pork Magazine, Nightwatch Magazine, and on numerous album covers, band T-shirts, concert posters, and skateboards.

SIMON HANSELMANN, MICHAEL DEFORGE, & PATRICK KYLE
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5th
BEGINNING AT 5pm
The Boys of Summer are coming to Los Angeles! Simon Hanselmann is coming all the way from Melbourne, Australia to titelate and delight Americans with his debut comic graphic novel, Megahex. Joining him are Koyama Press cartoonists, Michael DeForge with Lose #6 and Patrick Kyle with Distance Mover!
It will be a night to hazily try and remember the next day, don't miss it.
Stop me if you think you've heard this one before, but The Smiths + the X-Men = match made in heaven (...knows I'm miserable now.)
Some shows are bigger than others, and this one is BIG. Join the SHQ crew and handsome devil Adam Villacin (Dead Wrestlers, Dream Team, many more) for a night celebrating Marvel's most Morrisseyesque superheroes.
We will have closed edition prints for sale in the store and online only through the month of August, so make sure to take advantage before you want the one you can't have.
*Sorry for the puns, I know that joke isn't funny anymore.
At long last, there's a new Secret Headquarters shirt! Fountain silk screened, hand printed right over in Atwater. Incredibly bad ass.

Talented fellow Michael DeForge will be dropping by SHQ on Monday, July 21st from 7 - 9pm. He'll have a brand new zine to debut, and we'll have a very, very, very (like, get here on time) limited edition hat for sale.
It will be a mega chill evening of good times. Come say hi.
Friday, July 18th
Beginning @ 7pm
Join us at both SHQ and Vacation Vinyl for the release of the very first issue of The Humans, a new comic book series by Keenan Marshall Keller and Tom Neely!
The Humans is a high octane, no holds barred, ape-biker-gang chopper ride into '70s exploitation genre bliss. A clusterfuck of chains, sex, leather, denim, hair, blood, bananas, and chrome.
Tom Neely, Keenan Marshall Keller, and Kristina Collantes will be at Secret Headquarters for a signing and art show.
There will be a special in-store performance at Vacation by the Zig Zags for the release of The Humans Soundtrack Volume 1: split 7" by Zig Zags and Smelly Tongues.
Leave the kiddies at home, it's gonna get weird.
Join us on Wednesday, June 25th to celebrate the release of Malachi Ward's new book, Ritual 3: Vile Decay!
As an extra special treat, Malachi will have loads of original art for sale at insanely low prices for that night only. You do not want to miss that! Take advantage of his insanity.
Oh man, do we have a doozy of a lineup for you guys.
Help us celebrate the release of three excellent books with three of our favorite creators. So psyched to get these guys all together in one place! Don't miss out.

SMOKIN' BONES: ART BY REGINALD PÉAN
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7th
BEGINNING AT 7pm
Reginald Péan was born and raised in Queens. We've heard that Reginald sleeps in a coffin. A coffin made of wizard bones. He wears a black hooded bathrobe around town. It's made of terry cloth. When Reginald goes bowling, it's with an actual crystal ball. He has an extensive collection of googly-eyed Pink Panthers. All of this sorcery has helped to inform Reginald's art. His images of black panthers and women along side his delightful Grim Creeper are eerie and humorous.
Secret Headquarters is proud to have Reginald Péan's wonderfully sinister work on display for the month of February. We will have Smokin' Bones, a zine collecting Péan's work, as well as a limited edition patch designed exclusively for SHQ.
Enjoy drinks and possibly a fog machine starting at 7pm. Perhaps Reginald got himself an airplane ticket to join us.
You can check out more of his work here.

Smokin' Bones: Grim Creeper & The Lust Bunnies by Reginald Péan
Babes. Death. So sick. We'll have Reginald's originals on display at Secret Headquarters for the month of February, more details here.
Kid Mafia Digest by Michael DeForge
The digest collects Kid Mafia issues #1 - 3. The original three zines are long sold out and have never been collected. The digest covers are brand new and designed by Michael especially for this volume.
We here at Secret Headquarters are huge fans of Michael DeForge and are honored to be working with him again after publishing his zine, Incinerator, in 2012. Michael is one of the most innovative and talented cartoonists in the world, and we know that you'll love his work as much as we do.
DEATH PANEL
ART BY LUKE THOMAS
FRIDAY, JANUARY 3rd
BEGINNING AT 7pm
Ring in the new year at SHQ's first art show of 2014! Join us on Friday, January 3 as we showcase some new works from Vermont native, Luke Thomas. Luke is the man responsible for the epic album art of King Tuff, Witch, and Nirvana (1968). He also contributed to Hedi Slimane's Spring/Summer 2014 Yves Saint Laurent collection. Come by for a drink and melt your brain at this fluorescent comic punk freakshow.
You can check out examples of his rad work at Luke's Junk Drawer. See you then!
